Five Tips To Make A Good Day
Can we really make a good day with just five tips?
I think so.
I’ll take any good, positive, helpful tip, if it grants more joy and less stress. Looking up into a blue sky, it lifts my spirits. And makes me want to build a better, ya know?
In my loooong list of tips for good days with less storm clouds, here are five of them:
1. Feed the body. Eating breakfast in the morning is something I’ve had to work at. I don’t love it but it’s necessary. Morning nutrition gives me energy and makes me feel like I’ve done something positive for my very own self. It feels good to know my mental processes and physical body work better right off the bat.
Okay, so it’s not health food. Make sure to eat some protein with your sundae.
2. Feed the spirit. Connect with God and goodness. I tune into Heavenly blessings through music, nature, words, prayer… a whole array of goodness all around me. Especially on days of ‘storm clouds’ the personal skies clear when I feed my spirit. Something as simple as reading & digesting a good quote will give food for thought. A little way to grow big dividends – feed the spirit!
3. Laugh. Laughter is so good for the soul. It helps us dump negativity and instantly brightens our day. When I’m feeling the least like laughing is the time I need it most. It’s instant sunshine. Easy. Necessary. Good!
4. Get one ‘annoying’ thing done. Mark it off the list. You know those Have-To’s that keep piling up? The little bothersome details we keep putting off? They weigh us down, even when we don’t realize it. Taking five minutes to do a little portion of a big project, or choosing one of those jobs to ’do it already’ can free us up. It feels good.
5. Take a breather. In our busy days it is hard to find quiet time – but so necessary for our sanity. A mini vacation of ten minutes can do wonders. Instead of doing more, choosing to do a bit less can be better in the long run. Doing something impractical or unnecessary instead of keeping that nose to the grindstone every second is fun and good for us. Hooray for taking a breather!
Before I publish this today, I want to share some of the most sage words I’ve ever taken into my heart, with thanks to President Gordon B. Hinckley:
